Following up on your sales messages is very important for any succesfull marekting or sales campaign, because not every customer is going to answer to your message the first time.

Your message could be overlooked, not received or simply not answered by the recipient. That is why we are going to share with you, some of the important things to remember when doing follow up messages via WhatsApp, and also give an example of a template, which you can perhaps draw som inspiration from. 💡

Why use WhatsApp as your sales approach

The reason why WhatsApp is such a great tool for dealing with your sales approach, is that you can actually see when the recipient have opened the message, or if they have received it, but not opened it, or if they haven’t received it at all.

This way, you can structure your follow up messages, so that you don’t send unnecessary follow up messages, to people who haven’t even received the first message, and focus on those who have actually seen the first message you sent, but haven’t replied.

WhatsApp also gives you a higher chance of getting replies, because WhatsApp doesn’t have a spam filter your message can end up in, as the case is with emails. WhatsApp is also a more personal tool, that people are using every single day.

When sending follow up messages on WhatsApp, it is very important that you:

  • Are honest ✅
  • Are being friendly and respectful ✅
  • Are clear about your intentions ✅
  • Have full confidence in what you are selling ✅
  • Outline what value your product/service can create for the customer ✅

WhatsApp follow up template

This could be an example of a follow up message in WhatsApp: 👇

Hi again (CUSTOMER NAME)

Did you have a chance to look at my previous message, we strongly believe we can be a great addition to your company – (SHORT DESCRIPTION WHY).

We are looking forward to hear what you think!

When you are using WhatsApp, it is a bit less formal than when you are using email, and the recipient will also see your name when you are sending them a message, so you don’t have to mention your name in the message, but you can do it if you want to, that is all up to you.

Keep it short and casual

It is very important that you understand and recognize the different between writing to customers on WhatsApp, and writing to customers on emails. ❗️

Emails are a more formal way of communicating with your customers, so your messages would usually be longer, and you would focus more on formalities such as nice greetings and using more professional language.

WhatsApp is usually a less formal way of doing it, you should still be very professional about it, but you can be more casual, relaxed, and with shorter messages, but DON’T make it seem like you don’t care.
