Even though WhatsApp is an amazing tool, with so many possibilities, there are still some things you might want to consider while using the app, if you want to keep getting the very best out of WhatsApp.
Here we will share some of the mistakes we often see, while using WhatsApp, so you can prevent yourself from making the same mistakes! ✅
Is your WhatsApp account not safe enough? 🚫
A lot of people have all their private conversation on their WhatsApp, and i think it is safe to say, that we all want our private conversations to stay private.
Even though there you probably have a code to your phone, which you have to unlock to get access to WhatsApp, this might not always be enough. If people unlock that code by some means, or if people get access to your phone while it is not locked, they more or less have a clear path to your WhatsApp.
It might feel nice, not having to unlock your WhatsApp with a code, every single time you want to use it, but just as nice as that feels, i promise you, it feels at least twice as bad having your privacy infiltrated. 📵
That is why we recommend adding proof of ID when using the app, which you can easily activate in the app, and here is how.
In your WhatsApp settings, you can find an option called “Screen Lock”, which allows you to activate proof of ID when using the APP.
If you have one of the older iPhones, you can activate touchID, and if you have a more recently released iPhone, you can activate FaceID. If you have an android, you might have other options available.
Here is how you find this option. 👇
- Open WhatsApp 📱
- Go to settings ⚙
- Choose Account 🔑
- Then choose privacy 📵
- Then pick Screen Lock 🔒
Now you can add the option of having proof of ID on your WhatsApp to maje sure, that nobody but you have access to your private conversations.
Choose your profile picture carefully 📸
A profile picture can say more about you than you might think, in some cases, maybe too much.
Choosing a profile picture is more than just adding a random picture. It is about adding a picture, that represent you to your users, and reflect the impression you want people to have of you.
This also means, that you dont want your profile picture to give up information, that you dont want people to see or misinformation.
You should also consider who the audience is. If you only use WhatsApp to chat with friends and family, you can safely pick a fun picture, that might seem a bit more “unprofessional”.
If you use WhatsApp for your business, you might want to avoid this, so your customers doesn’t get the wrong impression of you, and might back out because you are giving them the wrong impressions. ❌
It would be a shame to lose good customers or potential business partners, because of poor choice of profile picture.
Always be available to your customers 👋
If you are using WhatApp to handle your customers, providing service and support, the worst possbile thing you can do, is to not be available for your customers, when they need your help, or simply just want to get in touch with you.
Many people just have their number on their website or social media, and this is okay, but you can do way better for your customers, and make life so much easier that that.
How you ask? Very simple, just add a link to your WhatsApp on your website or social media, or create a Widget with an agent to answer FAQ or direct customers to the right person. 👌

Don’t allow anyone to add you to group chats 👥
have you ever been added to group chats, that you don’t want to be in, by people you might not even know? Pretty annoying right. This is something you can avoid, simply by controlling, who are allowed to add you to group chats.
You can choose between:
- Everyone 🤔
- My contacts 📔
- My contacts Except ❗️
At the last option, you can block some of your contacts from adding you to group chats, if you don’t want them to have that opportunity.
